Revolutionizing Retail Cleaning: How Mömax Transformed Store Maintenance with Gausium’s Scrubber 50

January 22, 2025

Overview

Maintaining a pristine and welcoming retail environment is critical for success in the furniture retail industry. For XXXLutz Group’s Mömax, a leader in affordable and stylish furniture, achieving this goal became increasingly challenging due to rising cleaning costs, labor shortages, and time constraints faced by store staff. Recognizing the need for innovation, Mömax partnered with Gausium Österreich to deploy Scrubber 50 autonomous floor cleaning robots across its Austrian stores. This case study outlines the challenges Mömax faced, the solutions Gausium provided, and the transformative results achieved. To address its operational cleaning challenges, Mömax implemented Gausium’s Scrubber 50 robots across over 20 stores in Austria. Below are the key details:

  • Customer: Mömax (XXXLutz Group)
  • Industry: Retail
  • Region: Austria
  • Implementation Start Date: June 2024
  • Product: Scrubber 50
  • Scale: 20+ units deployed (1 per store)
  • Usage Location: Whole retail areas

Challenges Faced by Mömax

For Mömax, maintaining clean and inviting retail spaces became an increasingly complex task. The company struggled with several challenges that impacted both operations and customer satisfaction:

  • High Cleaning Costs: Mömax relied heavily on third-party cleaning companies, leading to significant operational expenses.
  • Labor Shortages: There were no in-house employees dedicated to cleaning tasks, and hiring additional staff proved difficult.
  • Time Constraints: Store staff were already occupied with customer service and sales tasks, leaving little time for cleaning expansive showrooms.
  • Inconsistent Cleaning Performance: Seasonal changes in store layouts made it challenging to maintain uniform cleaning standards, resulting in dusty furniture displays and unclean aisles.

These issues not only impacted the customer experience but also placed additional strain on Mömax’s operations, highlighting the need for a smarter, automated cleaning solution.

Gausium’s Solutions

To resolve Mömax’s cleaning challenges, Gausium Österreich implemented the Scrubber 50 autonomous floor cleaning robot, providing an innovative and efficient solution tailored to Mömax’s needs. The deployment of over 20 units—one per store—offered several advantages:

  • Best-in-Class Cleaning Performance: Scrubber 50 ensured spotless aisles, furniture showrooms, and entry areas, delivering consistent cleaning results.
  • Adaptability to Store Layout Changes: The robot intelligently responds to changes in the exhibition layout. If additional furniture is placed, the robot skips those areas. If furniture is removed, it automatically includes the newly available space in its cleaning program.
  • Daily Scheduled Cleaning: Cleaning is conducted in individual intervals throughout the day, ensuring consistent cleanliness across the sales areas.
  • Autonomous Operation with Workstation Integration: The Scrubber 50 autonomously navigates to its workstation to charge its battery and refresh its water supply, requiring minimal human intervention.

Results Achieved

Following the deployment of the Scrubber 50 robots, Mömax experienced remarkable improvements in cleanliness, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction:

  • Enhanced Cleanliness: Dust-free furniture showrooms create a cleaner and more attractive shopping experience. Spotless aisles and entry areas enhance the overall store environment.
  • Cost Efficiency: Significant cost savings were achieved by reducing the reliance on outsourced cleaning services.
  • Operational Convenience: Store staff were relieved of cleaning responsibilities, enabling them to focus on customer service and other core tasks.
  • Improved Customer Experience: Customers responded positively to the presence of the Scrubber 50. The robots operate seamlessly both before opening hours and during business hours, enhancing the store’s modern, innovative atmosphere.
  • Demonstrated Innovation: The deployment of autonomous robots reinforces Mömax’s reputation as a forward-thinking company committed to operational excellence and technological innovation.
Testimonials

The feedback from Mömax and its team further highlights the success of the Scrubber 50 deployment. According to the management of Mömax, the cleaning performance of the Scrubber 50 is excellent. It adapts seamlessly to changes in our store layouts and keeps our showrooms and aisles spotless. Customers are very receptive to the robots, and the operation is incredibly intuitive.

Martin Könitzer, Branch Management Eugendorf:

In our branch at Mömax in Eugendorf, we have 7,500 m² that the robot cleans every day. The robot automatically responds to changes in the exhibition. This means that if additional furniture is placed, the robot will skip that area. If furniture is removed from the area, it will include that area again in its cleaning program. The cleaning of the sales area is done daily in individual intervals. We have a workstation as an accessory. The robot autonomously goes to the workstation, charges its battery there, and changes the water. The robot is used both before the opening hours and during the opening hours while fully operating with customers. Customers respond very positively to the robot.

Conclusion

By implementing Gausium’s Scrubber 50 autonomous cleaning robots, Mömax effectively overcame its cleaning challenges, achieving cleaner retail spaces, reduced operational costs, and enhanced customer satisfaction. The seamless integration of advanced cleaning technology reflects Mömax’s commitment to innovation and operational excellence, setting a new standard for retail maintenance efficiency.
