In its pursuit of innovation, Rossmann sought to explore how emerging technologies could support its mission. After attending trade fairs and conducting internal workshops, Rossmann’s team connected with Gausium, a global leader in autonomous cleaning solutions. The result? A fleet of over 200 Gausium Phantas robots now deployed across Rossmann’s stores, with all new store openings set to include Phantas by default.

“Naturally, there was some skepticism in the beginning,” shared Sebastian Rehse, Store Manager at Rossmann, Werther. “But in the end, it’s incredibly simple. It’s not time-consuming at all and actually takes work off our hands.”
Phantas doesn’t just automate floor cleaning—it returns valuable time to store staff, allowing them to focus on customers and what truly defines the Rossmann brand. The robot integrates seamlessly into daily operations, moving quietly and unobtrusively through the store—without disrupting the shopping experience.
It’s also highly adaptable to dynamic retail environments. “If we move displays, it adapts accordingly and cleans the space where the display was previously located,” added Rehse.
Rossmann’s choice of Gausium was not just about cutting-edge tech—it was also about service and reliability.
“Firstly, the test phase was a complete success—the device quickly proved its worth,” said Arwed E. Gronsky, Head of Operations at Rossmann. “Additionally, their service partner Philon offered us an all-inclusive package, which made the decision even easier.”
Positive feedback from stores across Germany continues to pour in, and the robots have become not just tools, but symbols of Rossmann’s forward-thinking culture.
