Inspired by the region’s ancient Chu-dynasty rammed-earth walls and traditional courtyard architecture, the center houses 6 exhibition halls, a library, an archive, and a network of public gathering spaces. Its monolithic stone-and-concrete form conceals a labyrinth of courtyards, walkways, and bridges where light and shadow shift to embody the Chinese architectural philosophy of “hide, breathe, cultivate, and wander.”
